Definition:

A crutch is a mobility aid that transfers weight from the legs (our will, strength, identity, emotional health) to the upper body (our mind and heart that holds onto our past and personal hurts). Crutches are often used by people who cannot use their legs to support their weight(emotional healing and well being), for reasons ranging from short-term injuries (i.e, fear, insecurities, pride, bitterness, anger, jealousy, discontentment) to lifelong disabilities (i.e, personal loss, emotional, physical and sexual abuse, emotional neglect, abandonment, rejection).

Had an “aha” moment yesterday thinking about the people and things we lean on and use as a crutch or excuses just so we don’t have to deal with the real issue -ourselves.

What are you desperately leaning on so that you don’t have to deal with the real you?

Job, marriage/relationship, kids, family commitments, social status, divorce, money, the past, sickness, disability, exercise, drugs, alcohol, sex, anger, shopping, your business, food, guilt, pity, maybe even shame?

Think about it. Maybe you hobbling or taking tiny steps in your life instead of standing on your own.

You already know what I’m going to say, go to the Creator and ask Him for the strength you need so you can stop being afraid and live the abundant life you were called to live.
